Mr. Sterling Is a Socialist
Have you heard of the new NBC series “Mr. Sterling?” If not, you can skip the rest of this post.
So I heard about this new NBC series, “Mr. Sterling” on CNN’s Inside Politics a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be about a newly elected senator who learns the ways of Washington. They interviewed the actors about the series. Star Josh Brolin (Barbra Streisand’s stepson) said his inspiration was Paul Wellstone. His co-star said her idol was Nancy Pelosi. Despite such endorsements by the actors (and the fact that the series was created by “West Wing” creator Lawrence O’Donnell) I was willing to give “Mr. Sterling” a chance, because the senator was supposed to be an “Independent.”
Well, I’ve sat through four episodes and the truth ain’t pretty. Mr. Sterling is an independent in the sense that Ralph Nader is an independent. His biggest beef with the Democrats is that they’re too far to the right. Mr. Sterling is against a missile defense system, for tax hikes, for drug legalization, for Big Labor and for keeping Democrats in the majority in the US Senate. His only difference with the Democrats is that he feels that business lobbyists have too much influence over them.
I’ve had it with Mr. Sterling. I’m giving the series three thumbs down on my TiVo and will never watch an episode again. If you’re like me, you’re just as disgusted with it and think it’s even more hard-left socialist than “The West Wing.” If you’re not, you can read this NRO article to convince you.
Which brings me to an important question: Will someone please file a lawsuit about NBC’s socialist propaganda through “Mr. Sterling” and “The West Wing?” After all, under McCain-Feingold, in-kind contributions to political parties are no longer free speech. Even better, could John Ashcroft please consider enforcing McCain-Feingold by suing the pants off the liberal media?
