NC Update – Burr/Bowles Ad Wars

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

Richard Burr, the Republican candidate for Senate from North Carolina, has been attacked mercilessly for the past few weeks by opponent Erskine Bowles over the issue of breast cancer.One ad features a breast cancer survivor who is so angry she is practically spitting when metioning Burr’s name. Today I saw a Burr ad in answer to the Bowles’ attacks on the issue of breast cancer. The new Burr ad features a breast cancer survivor, also. The breast cancer survivor in Burr’s ad just happens to be his sister.

New York Times/CBS Poll

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

As most of you know, we here at Polipundit.com are not enthusiastic supporters of either the New York Times or CBS News, but there are some very interesting findings in their latest poll showing President Bush up 48%-45%. You can find the polls at the New York Times website. I cannot link to it.

John Kerry has a 41% favorable, 47% unfavorable rating. This is his worst rating ever.

Undecided voters lean to President Bush 50%-47%, validating the Pew finding and calling the Gallup number into question.

50% of Kerry voters strongly favor their candidate.

By a 49%-34% margin, voters expect President Bush to win.

Gallup

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

The last Gallup poll of this campaign shows Bush leading 49-47.

I agree with AKM’s take below on the laughability of the state-by-state numbers. With these numbers, Bush wins the electoral college. However, he’s much more likely to win Florida and/or Ohio and lose Pennsylvania.

Stop worrying about the polls. Get out and vote. It’s all you can do now.

TALK ABOUT ABSURD!

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

The new Gallup state polling data is out, and it’s frankly laughable. Why the most respected pollster in the world is going out on a limblike this is beyond me.

Florida=Kerry leads by three
Pennsylvania=Bush leads by four
Ohio=Kerry leads by four
Minnesota=Kerry leads by eight
Wisconsin=Bush leads by eight
Iowa=Bush leads by two

In the national poll, Bush wins 49%-47%, but Gallup estimates that the undecideds will go to Kerry, leaving it at a 49%-49% tie.

CBS Poll

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

CBS: Bush by 49-46

Like I said, for every poll that shows one move, others show the opposite. Today, WaPo and Fox show the race tightening. Rasmussen, Zogby, TIPP, Pew and CBS show movement towards Bush.

Ignore the polls. Get out and vote. That’s all you can do now.

Kerry Discharge

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

The Kerry other-than-honorable discharge story seems to have some compelling evidence in favor of it. All the talk suggests this story will break tonight.

We’ve seen this smoke before. I hope there’s some firebehind it this time. It would be wonderful if Kerry had to finally pay for his pro-Communist activities.
