Over the holiday weekend, a number of people celebrated the brave men and women who have sacrificed and suffered to defend our nation. They may have missed an important decision, which averted a tragic miscarriage of justice.
On May 26th, Marine Corps Major General Richard Huck, commander of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C., threw out murder charges against 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano, finding that Lt. Pantano acted within the rules of the engagement in an April 15 2004 encounter south of Baghdad.
It should never have gotten this far, but Marines can breathe a little easier, knowing they are not as likely to be arrested for doing their job, as they were just a short while ago.

Or not.
P.S. - Just exactly how many elections will the remnants of the Democratic Party need to lose, pray tell, before the partisan-liberal media, um, you know, moves on?

In Florida, Republicans have been waiting on Katharine Harris to decide whether she will seek the Republican nomination for some time now. It appears that she is close to making up her mind, and some Republicans are fearful that Harris will actually run. However, because she is perceived as such a strong candidate in a Republican primary, few other potential candidates are willing to take the plunge.
Were Harris not to run, the likely GOP nominee would be Congressman Mark Foley who has around two milion dollars on hand. Of course, I am afraid that Democrats would sink his candidacy with the inevitable gay rumors. We may be stuck with Harris.
UPDATE: Both Strategic Vision polls on this race have shown Nelson leading Harris by about seven points.

Nearly 31 years after the scandal that brought down a Presidency, and eleven years after his death, the identity of Deep Throat is finally been revealed by the mysterious person himself, and confirmed by Bob Woodward moments ago.
Well, it looks like it’s time for some good old fashioned Nixon bashing in the mainstream media.

Fresh off their re-election victories, President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair will meet at the White House on June 7.
Meanwhile, Jacques Chirac is assuring the French that the country will not adopt the Anglo-Saxon economic model.
French Unemployment = 10.2%
Great Britain Unemployment = 4.7%
Australian Unemployment = 5.1%
United States Unemployment = 5.2%
I think these numbers indicate that you should avoid the Anglo-Saxon model at all costs.

So, the Associated Depressed came out of its drunken stupor this morning and decided that La Francais’ vote against the EUro Constitution was bad news for . . . drum roll . . . President Bush.
Mmm, hmm.
Okaaaaay, then.
In other news, the Yankees’ slow start is bad news for President Bush.
And Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s latest foibles are bad news for President Bush.
And the cancellation of “Joan of Arcadia” has been deemed by experts to be awful news for President Bush too.
Sacre bleu.

USA Today’s Jill Lawrence appears largely incredulous at the notion, but she did manage to put forth a skeleton outline of some of the ways in which parents are becoming politically mobilized.
Modern-day leftism simply cannot survive in the face of a motivated and informed electorate. To the contrary, leftism needs a 1970’s or 1992-style malaise in which to metastasize.
So, carpe diem, parents.
