“Congress can stop Iraq war, experts tell lawmakers”

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Russ Feingold, Traitor to the republic, hard at work:

The U.S. Congress has the power to end the war in Iraq, several high-powered legal experts including a former Bush administration attorney told a Senate hearing on Tuesday.

With many lawmakers poised to confront President George W. Bush by voting disapproval of his war policy in the coming days, four of five experts called before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee said Congress could go further and restrict or stop U.S. involvement if it chose.

The hearing was frequently punctuated by outbursts from more than a dozen anti-war protesters, who were asked several times to be quiet but not thrown out.

The subcommittee’s chairman, Sen. Russ Feingold, said he would introduce a bill on Wednesday prohibiting the use of funds for the war six months after enactment.

Another Successful Missle Defense Test

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Far, far greater return on investment compared to ESC research:

Within a year, the U.S. missile defense system should be able to guard against enemy attacks, while testing new technologies, the deputy director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said on Monday.

The United States activated the ground-based system last summer when North Korea launched one long-range and six short-range missiles.

North Korea’s intercontinental Taepodong 2 missile fell into the Sea of Japan shortly after launch but the short-range tests appeared successful, said Brig. Gen. Patrick O’Reilly, deputy director of the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency.

O’Reilly said there would be no formal announcement that the system was operational. He predicted the capability to defend against enemy missiles and to continue testing and development work would be achieved within a year.

And Democrats fought this every step of the way.

“Tensions rise as Bush warns Iran”

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

The military industrial complex is getting cranked up:

Tension between the United States and Iran has risen sharply after President George Bush warned that America would respond “firmly” if Tehran stepped up its reported involvement in violence in Iraq.

The Bush Administration has received a briefing from the Pentagon about a possible air strike on Iran, but debate is continuing among the inner circle about the options.

Two US aircraft carriers were sent to the Gulf this month and the rhetoric from Washington has become more threatening.

Mr Bush, in an interview with National Public Radio, said on Monday: “If Iran escalates its military action in Iraq to the detriment of our troops and/or innocent Iraqi people, we will respond firmly.”

From another article,

The White House says there has been growing evidence over the last several months that Iran is supporting terrorists inside Iraq and is a major supplier of bombs and other weapons used to target US forces. In recent weeks, US forces have detained a number of Iranian agents in Iraq.

No worries people. Traitor John Kerry is busy supporting Khatami’s views on Iranian uranianium enrichment.

Anyway, I’d putthe probability of the US doing anything to Iran at zero. However, can you imagine how the Moore/Deaniac/Kossiac traitorous left would react? After all, those “progressive” people heart Ahmadinejad.

Senator Wants Answers on Why Assault on Capitol was Permitted

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

This is a followup to my story yesterday, about how a US Capitol Police Chief ordered his men to allow protestors to continue up to the US Capitol, where they spray painted parts of the building.

Senator Wayne Allard wants answers:

WASHINGTON — Sen. Wayne Allard has demanded a meeting with U.S. Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse after reports officers were ordered not to interfere with anti-war protesters who spray-painted graffiti on the historic west front steps of the capitol building on Saturday.
Tens of thousands of anti-war demonstrators descended on Washington, D.C., over the weekend, and most of their march went off peacefully. But near the end of the march, a small number of protesters reportedly broke from the group and approached the Capitol building, spray-painting graffiti on the historic west front steps.

Allard, ranking Republican on the appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Capitol complex, sent a letter to Morse on Monday, saying he was “dismayed,” demanding a full report and explanation for a lack of arrests.

“The media have reported that U.S. Capitol Police were given specific instructions to not interfere with or confront these actions,” Allard wrote. “It is my understanding protesters were allowed to spray paint the Capitol steps and deface buildings around the area while Capitol Police were instructed to not arrest anyone engaging in these unlawful acts.”

“On a day when thousands came to Washington, D.C., to exercise their First Amendment rights, the actions of a select few have tarnished their efforts by defacing the United States Capitol and several other government buildings,” Allard wrote. “I am disgusted by these actions, and lack of efforts to protect public property.”

Allard chief of staff Sean Conway said that individual officers told Allard that “even though they wanted to detain individiuals … they were told by folks upline in the chain of command that they were not to do so.”

Conway said it was healthy for democracy to have public demonstrations. “Unfortunately, the actions of a few have tarnished, in many people’s minds, that demonstration,” he said

CAIR Strikes Again

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

They still haven’t said a word condemning the comments by muslim clerics who degrade woman, target Jews and call for the destruction of Israel and the US, but they sure know how to talk when it suits them:

(CNSNews.com) - An Islamic advocacy group that routinely documents examples of anti-Muslim bias in the U.S.A. is asking the FBI to investigate an alleged “Islamophobic assault” on a Muslim shopper in Florida. The Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is holding a news conference on Tuesday to discuss the incident. According to CAIR-Tampa, a Muslim shopper of Middle Eastern heritage says he was threatened, insulted and physically assaulted by another customer at a Sam’s Club in Clearwater. “During the incident, the assailant allegedly shouted ‘f*** your Allah,” ‘f*** your Muhammad,’ and other anti-Muslim and racist slurs,” CAIR said in a news release. The victim also said store employees failed to come to his aid and local police refused to take a report of the assault. It’s not clear what prompted the alleged incident.

This group is one of the problems with what is going on today, not a solution.

Russ Feingold Impeding Our Fight Against Terrorism

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Another Democrat doing all he can to make it easier for the terrorists and criminals to go undetected:

WASHINGTON – The repercussions of an airline’s decision to remove a group of Muslim imams from a commercial flight in Minneapolis could be heard in Congress this year, with civil rights groups pushing Democratic lawmakers to ban racial profiling.
The incident happened in November and reinvigorated an old proposal that got little attention from the GOP.

With Democrats now in control, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) made it clear the issue will be a priority for him.

‘’Many law-abiding African Americans, Arab Americans, Latino Americans and others live with the fear of being racially profiled as they go about their everyday lives,’’ Feingold said.

Feingold’s last bill would have banned federal, state and local law enforcement officials from ‘’relying, to any degree, on race, ethnicity, national origin, or religion’’ during investigations.

An exemption would have been made for specific information that ‘’links a person of a particular race, ethnicity, national origin, or religion to an identified incident or scheme.’’

Some security-oriented groups are gearing up to fight.

‘’It would have the effect of estranging police officers from the community that they serve,’’ said Jim Pasco of the Fraternal Order of Police. ‘’It would make them more hesitant to stop people who might well be in violation of the law for fear that they’re going to get written up because of some racial protocol.’’

Peter Gadiel of 9/11 Families for a Secure America mocked the legislation. ‘’The 9/11 atrocity was committed by 19 young single men from Arab nations. If you want to hand this country over to terrorists, why don’t you say it right out front?’’ said Gadiel.

For 5 years we have heard democrats whine about Bush not doing enough to prevent 9/11. Here we are AFTER 9/11 and democrats are still tying the hands of law enforcement.

What was the administration supposed to do BEFORE 9/11 ?

New Year, Same Song

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin claims *sigh* “racism”:

NEW ORLEANS – Mayor Ray Nagintold a Senate committee yesterday that the rebuilding of New Orleans is getting shortchanged in light of the billions poured into the war in Iraq, and he suggested racism is part of the explanation.

Seventeen months after Hurricane Katrina struck, Nagin said he doesn’t see evidence of “the will to really fix New Orleans.”

“I think it’s more class than anything, but there’s racial issues associated with it also,” said the black mayor of this mostly black city.

Barack Hussein Obama opines:

Senator Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat and presidential contender, told the panel that Bush’s omission contributes to questions about whether the government is committed to helping the city rebuild.

“I hope we get some answers to the questions today because rebuilding the city of New Orleans is not just good for the Gulf Coast or the state of Louisiana, it’s good for our nation,” Obama said.

Mayor Nagin, How are those buses doing in the parking lot you left sitting during the hurricane ?

“Pelosi’s trip: She believes more strongly that withdrawal will help region”

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Another Democratic foreign policy sage at work:

Three days in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan have made House Speaker Nancy Pelosi even more certain of her view that moving troops out of Iraq is the best way to bring stability to the region, she told The Chronicle on Sunday.

Pelosi said she did not explicitly warn al-Maliki of the U.S. public’s waning patience with the war, saying, “The (November) election spoke more eloquently than anything else we could say.’’

Of course, it’s always America’s fault. But don’t question her patriotism!

“Young British Muslims more seized by political Islam”

Monday, January 29th, 2007

This is a lovely development:

A growing number of young Muslims in Britain are inspired by political Islamand in favour of Sharia law, Islamic dress for women and faith schools, according to a study.

The survey of 1,003 Muslims by pollsters Populus for the independent Policy Exchange think-tank also suggested there was greater support for militant Islamist groups among the young.

So, when they’re running Great Britain in 30 or so years and have nukes, that will be quite enjoyable I’m sure.

“Edwards Home County’s Largest”

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Two America’s all right, and he’s in the one most never see:

Presidential candidate John Edwards and his family recently moved into what county tax officials say is the most valuable home in Orange County. The house, which includes a recreational building attached to the main living quarters, also .

“The Edwardses’ residential property will likely have the highest tax value in the county,” Orange is probably the largest in the countyCounty Tax Assessor John Smith told Carolina Journal. He estimated that the tax value will exceed $6 million when the facility is completed.

Democrats: people for whom the bell never tolls.
