Mitt Romney Blogger Conference Call
Mitt Romney hosted a Blogger Conference Call this morning to discuss his campaign and Super Tuesday on February 5th. This is the first one that he himself attended that I can recall, and Ican’t even remember if the campaign itself has engaged the blogosphere in this fashion lately.
He was very upbeat, still had his sense of humor and wit about him, and he was realistic while being optimistic about Tuesday at the same time.
He talked about how this primary is for the heart and soul of the Republican Party, comparing it to 1976 when the insider Gerald Ford was able to beat the outsider, conservative Ronald Reagan, to then go on and lose the election.
Mitt spent some time discussing how the McCain “false claim” about Romney wanting a timetable to withdraw the troops has been thoroughly refuted but almost all media outlets. He touted his most recent endorsements by Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others, pointing out that Conservative talk-radio is rallying behind him.
Romney also pointed out the long list of McCain-(Insert Democrat Name Here) bills that have been a disaster and McCain’s record of voting like a Democrat. He also mentioned that having McCain face either Clinton or Obama, he would be viewed as the candidate of the past, and insider with a litany of failed policies instead of hope and optimism for the future with Romney as the nominee.
